The road from Paddy Heeney's cross-roads to McShane's in Clonkeefy is called the "Comhsa" road. I believe it was only a lane at one time and so called Comhsa. The road from Cornacrave to the pound hill leading to Ballyjamesduff is called the New Line. It was made in 1847 as a relief work. The bridge between Cormaddyduff and Crossafehen [Crossafehin] was a bridge of black oak sticks in olden times. It is from that bridge that Cormaddyduff (Cormaidedhuibh) got its name.It was a very usual thing to hold dances at cross-roads and pipers supplied the music. Cartney was the name of a famous piper. Suicides were buried at four cross-roads in olden times. The old generations used to take crowing hens there, and leave(continues on next page)
