    rows of rods stretching from the eves to the ridge at intervals of about ten inches. A job finished in that style is far from being artistic, but it is maintained by a few, and only a few, that it is the strongest and more lasting finish. This of course in the untrue, for in a few years time the thatch saggs, and the scollops protoude like bones from a skeleton. The water of course can easily run down by the scollops into the heart of the roof. The best thatchers sometimes finish off the ridge with variously designed knobs of straw by way of ornament, something like style i below. Style ii is the ordiniary finish.
