  1. About five years ago, Mrs Jack Smith (Sen) Carrickatobar was awoken at two o'clock in the morning by a knocking at the window. She got up, went to the window and enquired who was there. A voice answered that she "was wanted over in Matty's" (This was Matty Mc Breen's house 300 hundred yards away) Thinking that someone in Matty's was ill she dressed and got ready to go. Before she left her husband awoke and asked her where was she going. She told him that she was called and that she was wanted over in Matty's. The husband then got up and insisted on going over with her, although she wanted to go alone. When the arrived at Matty's there was no light there and everything was quiet. They knocked and after some time Matty put out his head and asked who was there. They told him. He came downstairs and let them in and asked them what brought them there at such an hour.
