    and tried to plunge through the snow. They had to try and shovel paths to make their way round to the out-houses.
    On the first morning it occurred it was very dark, and some people thought, that the day had not broken yet and they kept sleeping. During the darkness there was great thunder and lightning before day-break
    The storm caused a great deal of anxiety to the poor people as s well as to many others as to their supply of food.
