    Notes on the Townlands:

    ASKAVILLA:- moory and sedgy land here

    BALLINA:- probably from a little river which crosses the sea road to Wexford at this place

    BALLINACLASH:- embraces a patch of low-lying land giving on the coast

    BALLINADRISSOGUE:- has even now many briar grown fences

    BALLINAGLOUGH:- where the village of Blackwater is siutated. There is a quarry in the district and stones of any kind are very rare in this parish

    BALLINAGORE:- probably Baile na nGabhar - goats are much in evidence there even now

    BALLINARUDDERY:- the old people say "Reidneach" probably "red land". Fern grows much in this district.

    BALLINELLARD:- (Baile an Abhlóird) the boys say every farmer there grows apple trees and crab trees are very plentiful in the locality. In the town land is a place
