  1. The only huxter woman I know is Biddy Healy. She is now depending on the home assistance for her living.
    The following information, about her, was told to me by my uncle, Pat Gavin, Lavalla, Ballynacally.
    About twenty years ago she used tramp the country as a huxter woman. She used go to Limerick every fortnight or so, and bring a basket of little nick-nacks such as, pictures, cups and saucers, plates, and so on, from Woolworth(s).
    By bus she used travel, but the bus fare got too dear for her, and, therefore, she had to rise out of the job.
    You would never see Biddy without her two dogs. She called one of them "De Valera", and the other "Teddy".
    When she came into a house she sat on a chair. Then she would take "Teddy" on her knees,
