Ar an leathanach seo

  1. The whiteboys lived about seventy years ago. The leader of the Whiteboys was called Richard Ruari (?).He was also called the Harper Culnane (?). He lived in the bog Cappenhane, Bruree. The Whiteboys were people who went around scourging those who were doing harm. There were twenty two White boys in this parish. One day when they were around they stuck eight calves belonging to a gentleman, because he was very cruel to the working people. After that they went over through Knockferna on the Lesifine hill and they were eating loaf bread and drinking new milk when on came twenty two police and two sergeants. Their leader was sergeant Brown from Ballingarry. When they came near Richard Ruari (?) ordered his men to take their guns which were called blunderbuses. He asked the police was it on their track they were coming. Then the police were afraid, and said no. Then the police went to the back of Comba's house and waited there until they would come. At evening about seven o'clock the Whiteboys came home, some of them went towards Knockferna and only seven of them went towards Comba's house. When they were coming
