  1. Long ago there lived a king named Fergal. He lived at a place called Aileach. One may eve himself and his hunting men went out hunting the deer from early morning until night came on them. They still kept on hunting until one of the hunters said "it must be an enchanted beast they were following but the king did not hear them, "By my hand" I will not stir another step, said one of the hunters. I will build my hut here by this stream. All the rest of the hunters did the same thing as he did. The king did not see the others step away until he was alone in a valley. On that time the kings could not go alone in Ireland. And as he was thinking of that to himself a small black man came up to him and said it is not right for a king to be alone in such a valley you shall come to my palace and have a nice time. Now at the same time the hunters were at their huts eating their supper. The king said who is that man that is talking to me: "Mac Reulth, Mac Speir was the answer. The king knew then that he was no common man. Then the king said you are right my man for I am not to hunt alone,
