- Care Of The Feet.About 80 years ago, no children wore boots. The women wore them only while they were in the towns. They considered them an incumbrance and divested themselves of them when they got back outside the town again, tied them together and strung them over their shoulders, on the way home.some men were never known to wear them even in snow. Children now go barefoot in Summer, very few go barefoot all the year round. The waters for washing the feet is thrown out before dark. It is never left inside for fear of the "good people"Boots are made and repaired locally and were in olden times though the boots they were better
made and lasted longer.
