- St. Stephen's DaySt Stephen's Day is observed here by bands of dressed-up young men and boys who go from house to house singing and dancing. They ask money and are given it generously at each house.If they get the money they cheer and if they do not they "booh"They either divide the money between them or have an "all night" party and a dance.They sing "the wren, the wren" but they never have one now or even an imitation of one.This is the rhyme
"The wren, the wren, the king of all birds
St Stephen's Day she was caught in the fulge
Although she is small her family is great
Rise up dear landlady and give us a "thrate"
Up with the kettle and down with the pan
Give us our answer and let us begone"
