  1. In ancient times people had three regular meals daily. Their food consisted of potatoes, barley bread, wheaten bread, skim sour milk yellow meal stirabout.
    Ar that time people had no clocks but they had sundiles or the moment the cock crew they arose. In winter time they got up at dark then fed the cattle, and eat their breakfast with the candle light or the Padóg.
    In the centre of the house the table was, when the people had help. The griddle cake was made of wheaten and barley flour. It was made in the same way as to-day it was then put on a gridle.
    Lander and hake fish were plentiful, meat was so seldom seen that a woman went into a neighbours house one day those people happened to have a piece of mutton for dinner the woman said "O what happened the sheep" as much as to say ye would not have it if the sheep did not die.
