  1. Denis Horgan was a great weight thrower, he was also a good jumper. He held the world champion-ship for eleven year's. He learned first with his neighbour's every Sunday in throwing the weight of a furze machine. Then he started with the 6lb shot. At last he was a famous man for throwing One day a great weight thrower from England asked Denis Horgan to play him.
    They appointed a field near Mallow and they put the mark's up, A great crowd of Irish came to see Denis and the Eenglish man. Denis threw first and put it at a distance of seven feat. The English man threw and put it at a distance of 8 feet, but Denis threw again and put it to 10 feet, The English man threw and put it 8 feet again. All the Irish cheered and all through that day there was great joy, many of his neighbours gave him presents.
