Long ago the people went to the nearest town to buy cattle and clothes. Buying and selling was carried on in the village after Mass on Sundays especially the people that made baskets themselves brought them there to make sale of them to the people. This practice is now discontinued in our district. Money was not always given for goods, sometimes the goods were exchanged for potatoes or oats. Formerly the farmers did not give money to the workmen for their labour but they gave them potatoes and oats and milk and other household goods which was much better(continues on next page)
