    Spinning
    Long ago spinning was the most common industry in Crookhaven and the districts around. The same spinning wheel was used for the spinning of flax and wool. The wool was oiled and combed and made into rolls. Then it was attached to the end of the spindle. And the wheel which was on a long piece of wood known as the shoulder was turned by the hand. At the same time the thread was held in the other hand. Then between the fingers the thread was pulled out and at the same time the wheel was kept turning.
