    this did not work. One night Puxley and his agents were playing cards. The devil appeared under the table making a lot of noise. One of the men immediately went for the minister. He came but could not do any good. Then the priest was sent for but refused to come. In the end he came and read prayers over the devil. He disappeared through the window in a ball of fire.
