  1. On the western shores of Bantry Bay, a dear old castle stands.
    Where O'Sullivan Beare did lordly reign, with his brave Bearehaven clan.
    Hostile armies poured around, over land and sea.
    And many a ball poured fourth its flame at the battle of Dunbui.
    II
    Early in the seventeenth century, this battle did commence.
    When cursed Carew, came from Cork, with his fourthousand men.
    Along the line by Carbury, and Beare Island in the sly.
    For he dared not face Glengariffe's pass that led to famed Dunboy.

    Early next morning, Earl of Thomound came to see
