Local people still use certain graveyards. People are buried in the father's family burial ground no matter how far away it may be. It is commonly believed too that when a Fitzgerald is being buried there is sure to be rain and a storm"Gaoth 's cnagarnaig ar thóir na gearrlag"In olden times unbaptised children were buried in unconsecrated ground, now they are buried in the local churchyard like the baptised children.
