  1. (continued from previous page)
    the winning post,
A native sportsman we all should drink a "toast".
They bore him on their shoulders as they came into the town,
& his father swore he'd drink the prize. Let it be fifty pounds
I am sure you've heard of Jackson & likewise Arthur Bán,
You've also heard of Cassidy, for many a race he run
But there is none of those brave sportsmen to young Keatings I'd compare,
For he far exceeded the bold Philgate who rode all in Kildare.
To conclude & finish well for my song it is at an end,
I hope I have said nothing that would any of you offend,
Come drink a health to Keatings & take your glass in hand,
And give him his full title - his name is "Noble Dan".
