  1. This part of Tyholland is called the "Eight Tates". The eight townlands belonging to the neighbouring parish of St Mary's and they were assigned to Tyholland owing to its being a very small parish. The eight townlands are Lappin, Lisconduff, Kinard, Alkill, Groves Upper, Groves Lower, Drumahinsion & Drummuck.
    Drumahinsion - 4 families
    Drummuck - 5 families
    Groves Upper - 7 families
    Groves Lower - 1 families
    Kinard - 3 families, all on road
    Alkill - 7 families, all on road
    Lappan - 6 families, all on road
    Lisconduff - all houses on road
    as the land on each side is low or bog- within one field of bog one side & same on the other side. (Peter Woods is in a short lane).
    Kinnard is same ridge - one house slightly off road (Frank Wood's house).
    Alkill - All on road except Ned Hughes.
    The horses were much more numerous - one in every alternative field. All the land level & boggy.
