- (continued from previous page)Dunscum's Road and it was on the slope below the roads level. Forty two years ago it was occupied by Con Donnelly, his wife and eight or nine children.
On Saint Stephen's Day Pat Lyne - the author of this account - and two companions named Jimmie Cronin and Maurice Cronin were hunting. That was in the year 1896.
When they were returning home they saw plainly what they would swear to as a flock of wild geese standing in Bogach na Mine.
They viewed them well as it was early in the evening with plenty of daylight and they then armed themselves with stones and stole up towards the geese but when they got near them all they could see was "stooks" of turf.
Not one of the three men thought of laughing at their disappointment. Instead they became really nervous and Pat Lyne still feels that there was something extraordinary about the place that very evening.
The Donnellys kept three cows and a donkey and goats and fowl.
On December 27th a man named "Champion" Lenihan was passing that way and Donnelly's daughter got a drive from her to a friend's(continues on next page)- Collector
