  1. Local Cures
    Continuing my list of local cures from last week.
    For the heart :-
    Patrick (Junior) Baxter Kilmore Ballinamore has this cure. It is made by placing a full cup of oatmeal against the heart and saying one Our Father and five Hail Marys three times.
    When the cup of oatmeal is removed from the heart it is found that some of the meal, sometimes all of it mysteriously disappears according to the condition of the heart.
    For convulsions in children or adults :-
    If the place where the first attack is known, bury a harrow pin and a crooked sixpence together in the ground. If this has to be done in the house, the person doing so should not stand between the fire and place of burial lest they themselves should become attacked.
    For Erysipelas :-
    Michael Keegan Drumwhelan Garadice has this cure. This is made by saying a decade of the Rosary and touching the infected part with his right hand in a circle three times in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
    For the Whooping cough :-
    A certain preventitive is :- Where a ferret is kept
