   out of flannel also stocking are home made in my district. Black clothes were always woven long ago because if any of their relatives died they wore them for a year after. Mr Gilhooley lived in Mohill for many years where he earned his living by tailoring. He was an itinerant for some time but now he is living in a hut in Dereen bog. The hut has a roof woven of rods. He continued to sew and the hut houses all his implements of sewing.

2. Old Crafts

   Spinning and knitting the sheep's wool is one of the old ways for producing garments.
   First when the wool is got from the sheep's back it is teased so as to remove knots. Then it is carded by cards that resemble wire brushes to get the wool into rolls and then it is ready for spinning. It is spun by thinning out the roll of wool and
