  1. There were no rooms in the houses long ago. There used to be only one small window in the front of the house. It used to be about two feet high and one foot wide. There was no glass at that time. It was two shutters hung on the sashes they had. There was a hasp for shutting them. There were rung doors out at that time. They were made like a ladder but they were much wider. They used to have sally rods between the rungs.
