    arable land and a good portion of bog land is in this village. The river Clare which takes its rise near Ballyhaunis flows through it.
    There is one sad story about "Black 47", the English Government started the "Relief Works" and deepened the river Clare and as a result several corn mills were closed down as the water was taken away and put under one bridge.
