  1. Long ago people had no houses like they have now. They made huts of mud and of timber and they covered their houses with heather. Some of them made houses of stones and covered them with straw. The people had no chimneys it was out the door or out through a hole in top of the house the smoke went. They made the fire in the middle of the house. They
