  1. Every Parish has a churchyard of its own. Some churchyards are very large and others very small. Kilburan churchyard takes in about half an acre of ground. Its shape is square, surrounded by a stone wall about six feet high, with an iron gate at one end. There are many headstones in different shapes and sizes. Some graves have an iron railing all round them. The old graves were not so well kept and they had a grave here and there which would never be looked after till they would be needed again.
