  1. St Bridget's Well

    I
    Beneath the oaks in solitude,
In a deep and grassy dell,
The great St. Bridget knelt in prayer,
    Beside a holy well.
And where she prayed, unto this day
    Her footmarks, plain are shown
Beneath the shelter of the oaks
    Upon a large flat stone.

    II

To old ''Sríonáin'' once pilgrims flocked
To that cool and shady dell,
They came to pray for health and strength
    At Bridgets holy well.
But once upon a patron day
A fight took place near by,
And blood was spilled; and ever since
    St Bridget's well is dry.
