  2. Basket-Making
    Bill Regan, Kilcorney, Banteer, was one of the best basket makers of his time. He used make the baskets by night and sell them at the chapel gate, Lyre, Banteer on Sunday.
    Jeremiah Lehane, Fortgrady, Banteer also made twig baskets. There baskets were used for drawing turf, cabbage and potatoes.
    Mrs Taaffe, Banteer West made excellent baskets with sally twigs.
    Rope-Making
    Mary Farrell, Rathcoole, Banteer used make "rush" ropes and it is said that these ropes were as good and as strong as the ropes of the present day.
