    forming the "bridge". They then ask the captured player which of the selected objects she would wish to have - Gold watch or gold chain, and when she names the object she is told to stand behind the "bridge" girl who has selected the object named by the captured player.
    The game goes on until all the players have made their selection and taken their proper places behind the "bridge" girls. Then a tug-of-war takes place and the side that makes the first break is the losing side.

  2. HARRY O'SULLIVAN, Nadd, Banteer, Co. Cork was a famous runner. He ran a ten mile race in England. It was a cross country race. He would easily have come first but when jumping a gate one of the spikes went through his leg, however despite this injury he came in second.
    MICK and JOHN O'CALLAGHAN, brothers, Lyre, Banteer co. Cork were also famous runners.
    DAVID O'CALLAGHAN, Lyre, Banteer, Co. Cork, employed as a sorter in a Dublin post office, was a famous footballer. He died young - 30 years - and a monument to his memory was erected in Lyre.
