    Information from Patrick O'Sullivan, Banteer, Co. Cork. Age 76 years.
    There was a cricket team in Banteer over 60 years ago. There was a match almost every Sunday. A half tierce of porter would be taken out on Saturday night and the price was only 15/- or 16/-. The losing side had to pay for the porter. No Sunday drinking was allowed at that time in the public houses.

  2. About 60 years ago Sports were held in Priestley's Lawn, Kanturk. Some of the Competitors from Banteer were Dan Duggan - local blacksmith - Runner
    Denis Scally - Runner, Jumper + Weight-thrower.
    Most of the prizes came to Banteer.

  3. Banteer + Liscarroll played for final in Kanturk about 40 years ago and Banteer won.
