- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)Long years ago a party of monks landed, in small boats, at Locan na tSaile, an inlet of the sea near Tullaghan. The people of the neighbourhood went down to the sea and received them very kindly. They brought them food and drink. The vessels in which the food was brought were ever afterwards unbreakable, and were preserved by the Cassidy family.
The monks told the people that they had come from Donegal - that they had been driven from their abbey by the English.
They made tents of skins and lived in them during their stay. They re-built part of the old church which was then in ruins. Every morning they bathed in Locan na tSaile.
