- Marriages usually take place before Advent and before Christmas. The people say that May is an unlucky month to get married in. They also say that Wednesday, Friday and Saturday are unlucky days. There are matches made yet in this district but not very many. If the girl has no money she gets land or cattle as a dowry. On the day of the marriage the bride and groom go to chapel and get married. Then they go off for a drive in their cars. Then they come home striving one man trying to pass out another man. The man that would be driving the bride and groom would always try to keep out before the others and if he saw another man going to pass him out he would keep going across the middle of the road. If another man passed him out when they would arrive home he would strike the man that passed him out and then there would be a fight. That night the straw boys would come and the bride and groom would have to dance first and then the straw boys would dance.
