    they got a certain part of an alder tree, and rubbed it three times to the tooth saying certain words; they then threw it away and toothache was gone. If they suffered from their stomach they boiled dandelions in water and ate them and drank the water. Sometimes they ate them raw. There were some people who made medicines from herbs. There was great regard for these people in a village or town. Sometimes the children got the mumps. They put hot salt in a cloth to them.
