  2. There is a little lake called the "Castle lake" about 1/2 mile from Bailieborn and a story is told that about eighty years ago a man named Phil Carroll of Urcher was fishing, and all of a sudden there appeared in the rushes adjoining the lake what seemed to him as a strange looking big dog
