  1. If two of the one surname get married they have a cure for the whooping cough, by giving something to the child to eat, drink or wear.
    Where there is a family of seven sons, the seventh son has a cure for the sprain.
    There is a cure for the mumps by putting the asses' winkers on the child's head, and then lead him round the pigsty three times saying these words, "Huglty muglty lecknalee three times round the pigsty and then you will be free".
    There is another cure for whooping cough, by giving an ass some meal to eat, and while he is eating it to put the child in and out inunder him three times.
    A cure for wild fire is to rub the spot with a gold ring.
