  1. The following are signs of rain.
A red sunrise, a misty circle round the moon, stars falling, a great number of stars in the sky, a rainbow early in the morning, the cat scraping a stick, the dog eating grass, ducks quacking loudly, crows flying high, swallows flying very low, curlews whistling, sheep and cattle grazing early in the morning, soot falling, a bad draught on the chimney, the flowing of the waters in Cliffin mill-stream heard at a distance, shadows in the lake.
    The following foretell good weather.
A red sunset, a rainbow in the evening, a mist over the river.
