  1. The Red Lane
    Around here many roads and by-ways get their name from some event that happened near them, such as: "The Red Lane" or "The Dead Shore". On the road running from Cavan to Ballyjamesduff a lane branches off near Crosskeys and leads to a farmer's residence. One night three men were going home from a dance when suddenly they disagreed. Words lead to blows and soon the victim of the night lay in his gore. The next day the lane was red with blood , and so it got that fitting title "The Red Lane"
