  1. In the year 1835 there was a school in Loonogs with 102 pupils in attendance. There were seven other schools in the parish then, and in the year 1835 some of them were designated as day schools and some as Hedge Schools. Probably they had been all Hedge Schools prior to 1831, when the Board of National Education was set up, and that by 1835, most of them had been taken under the Board. The following local schools were in operation in 1835
