  2. Cane Mahony was the landlord of Shanballa. He evicted "Máire" Mahony on a snowing night and she cursed him. One day he was fowling and got shot. He lived near Killarney. He was resting and he had the barrel of the gun pointing towards himself. His dog jumped on the trigger and the gun exploded and killed him. A man named MacCarthy became landlord of Shanballa after him.
