  1. There are two fairy forts in the school district. One is situated at Drumbenagh and the other at Lisdoogan. The one at Liadoogan is known as Lios and the other is known as Drumbenagh rath. The two forts are in view of each other. They are circular in shape. There is a fence of earth with a deep dyke and trees growing on the embarkment of Drumbenagh rath. There are no holes in these but a gap at the side. The Danes are supposed to have built these forts for the military, for safety whenever they were fighting in the country. It is said the fairies lived in them after the Danes returned to their own country.
