    A Fairy Story.
Almost fifty years ago,a cousin of my grandfather,Bertel Mc Cormac, lived outside Clones. His house, the walls of which can still be seen, was situated on a high hill overlooking Clonkeen Lake.Close to the house were the ruins of an old fort.Coming home at a late hour one night,Bertel met a little man near his house. Not believing in anything supernatural,he quarrelled and wrestled with him.On the following day,Mc Cormac found to his dismay, that he had lost the power of one of his arms. From that day until the day of his death, his arm was useless.People put his misfortune down to his wrestling with the fairy.
