    Penal Days.
In the Penal days the only place I ever heard about a priest being killed or a Mass Rock in our district was where the recent memorial was erected in Bragan.
My father told about a place in Fermanagh. The townland of Lettergreen, beside Newtownbutler, where a priest was murdered in the penal times. The story goes that he was hunted to a particular shrubbery by the yoemen and put to death. The shubbery and the laneway along side it is known to the present day as the Butcher's Lane and Shrubbery.
