- There is a forge situated in Lower Abbey Street, Cahir, on a tributary of the Suir, and it is owned by a man named Bill Reidy. His father was a smith before him.
It has a slate roof, and the door is shaped like a horse shoe. Mr. Reidy used to make ploughs and harrows and spades, but now that machines are so numerous, he only shoes horses and asses and makes iron-gates.
He puts bands on wheels in the open air.
The water in the forge is supposed to be able to cure wharts.- Faisnéiseoir
