- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)Bailie, who built the first houses in the town. The houses in this town are all slated and nearly all built with stone.
Bailieboro is in the barony of Clankee.
Long ago there was a poor house which was a hospital, the ruins of this house can still be seen.
When the Model Scholl was built, Roman Catholics came to it as well as Protestants.
About one mile outside Bailieboro there are mountains called the Loughanlee, it was called that because there was a lake on the mountain and Loughanlee means the "Lake of Cures" and anybody that was sick or had any disease washed in this lake was cured.
One day a man brought two greyhounds, that had a disease, and when they were cured the dogs jumped out of the lake, and vanished and was not seen or heard of since.
There are a great many of other stories about Bailieboro, such as the "Tree Beef".- Faisnéiseoir
