- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)yoemen, who had concealed themselves amongst the long bracken about 40 perches north of the rock, were seen approaching.
The priest directed all the people to kneel down and he proceeded with the offices of the mass which he had commenced, it was just daybreak on the 15th August 1770, and although the yoemen made all possible haste, and could see the priest quite clearly, they did not succeed in getting these 40 perches for three hours, by an extraordinary miracle the land swam backwards with them, and stranger still when they came to the place where the people had been, all they found were stones, standing up about a yard apart, it is said a stone appeared for every person who was present, even now some of these remarkable stones remain.- Bailitheoir
