- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)The kind of bread made in olden times was oaten bread, boxty bread and potato bread. In olden times querns and grinding stones were used. The oaten bread was made from oat meal and warm water. It was placed in front of the fire against a gridiron. The boxty was made by grating raw potatoes and adding boiled potatoes. Then all was rolled on a board and placed in an oven to bake. The potato bread was made from boiled potatoes and flour.
