- The local beliefs about the weather are as follows:- When a storm is coming the sun does not shine so brightly in the sky. When the moon is to be seen with a ring around it, it is a sign of rain. When the moon appears bright in the sky in the summer time, it is a sign of good weather and when it appears bright in the sky in winter time it is a sign of frosty weather.
When a rainbow is to be seen in the sky it indicates plenty of rain.
The south-west wind brings most rain to this district. The cricket sings very sharply when it is going to rain. Flocks of wild geese and sea-gulls are often seen flying in the air previous to a storm. If birds are seen flying high, it indicates good weather, and birds flying low indicate stormy weather.
