Writing. After some time the school was stopped so then he went about to the farmer's houses teaching English. What ever house he was in the neighbours used to gather in. If it was too late for him to go home he would stay all night in that house.
He had to get a pound for every three months. There was another old school in Rossard. The teacher's name was Anne Kearns. She used to teach English, Reading and Writing. She came from Ballycrystal to Rossard. The people from Ballycrystal came to school also. They had no stell pens and they had to get quills. She used to go home to Ballycrystal every night. She got three pence from each child. They made ink of their own.
