Joe Bloomer from around Mostrim was digging around a forth in his field one day when he dug up something in the shape of a jug. He brought it home and to his great surprise he found it was Gold. There were some dates and names written on it but could not be read which proves that this must be a very old ornament.

  2. On the main road between here and Mullingar, there is a village called Rathowen. The village was called after a great man whose name was "Owen"
This man has possession of this Rath while he lived. He had in it a wonderful stronghold.
He had a big river of water running all around it, and in order to get in and out they used to have to let down bridges which they could lift up again. Therefore nobody could get in or out only those who lived in it.
