  1. The names of some of the local roads are, The Loughill road extending from the Pound of Killen to Bawn cross roads. The New Line extending from the Deans' Hills to Bawn. The Longford road from the Pound of Killen to Longford. The Ardagh road from the Pound of Killen road to Ardagh. The Cartronwar from the Pound of Killen to the Turnpike road which runs to Edgeworthstown. There is an old road from Drumrue to the Ardagh - Mostrim road. There is a road in Ferefad which runs to nowhere. It is said to have been built during the famine. There is a short cut through our land and it is still used.
    There is a belief that anyone who lives on a cross roads will not have the same name for three generations. In the Drumrue lane there is an iron cross over the place where a man died. People long ago threw a stone beside the cross and there is a little heap around the cross.
